Additional inspection fees will be charged for any inspections classified as Extra, Disapproved, Not Ready, Locked Out, or if inspections are canceled on the day scheduled after 8am.

Section 23a of the state construction code act of 1972, Act. No. 230 of Public Acts of 1972, being section 125, 1523a of the Michigan Compiled Laws, Prohibits a person from conspiring to circumvent the licensing requirements of this state relating to persons who perform work on residential building or a residential structure. Violators of section 23a are subjected to civil fines.

R105.5 indicates that permits “shall” become invalid if work is not commenced within 180 days. A refund may be obtained on a valid permit if a request is submitted in writing prior to the expiration of the permit. The refund will be less the application fee, plan review fee, 25% of the permit fee and any inspections that have been completed. Expired permits cannot be refunded.
